Worthy Burger and The Peoples Pint
Worthy Burger (and a side trip to the Pint)
Worthy Burger in South Royalton VT has been one of my favorite spots ever since I discovered them three years ago or so. Housed in an old train station, this place boasts a wood-fired grill in the kitchen and high-quality ingredients that are all sourced from Vermont farms. Top that off with 18 taps stocked with beers that I just never see in Massachusetts, and it’s a recipe for delight.
Today I had three beers and sampled a fourth, so they’re all included here. The first two were both from Good Measure Brewing in Northfield VT and it was really tough to move on from them. First came a farmhouse saison ale called Hard Tellin’, Not Knowin’ at 4.2%. This was so easy-drinking that I seriously considered just sticking with it for the day! I’ve since discovered that the name of this beer is what Mainers say instead of “I don’t know.”
The second Good Measure draft was Bonkers, a brown ale with rye mash and coffee beans at 6.5%. And once again, it was really difficult to not stick with this one.
But move on I did, to a tasting of a Doppelbock (8.2%) from Schulz Bräu Brewing of Knoxville TN. I was deciding between this and a Cherry Graham Crackers Ale (8%) from Bent Hill Brewery in Braintree VT. It was a difficult choice, but I went with the Bent Hill, a wonderful ale with a strong cherry taste.
On the way back home, the People’s Pint in Greenfield MA beckoned me and I stopped in for a pint of their Hope Street ESB, one I hadn’t tried before. It was very good, but I do wish I could have enjoyed more of the Good Measure beers from Worthy Burger! Next week, perhaps … I’ll be back up that way to pick up my bassoon from its annual service appointment 🙂
