Cold Creek, My Old Friend
I was back at Cold Creek Tavern for lunch today and enjoyed a couple of lovely pints, the first a repeat from the past, the Marathon Brewing 26.2. This is a mild Gose and one that I find extremely refreshing. It was difficult to tear myself away from it, but they had a stout I’d never seen before that was calling my name …
From Mast Landing Brewing in Westbrook, Maine came the Gunner’s Daughter, a 5.5% mild stout with peanut butter, coffee, and dark chocolate flavors. It was a good beer to end the meal with but perhaps would be too strongly flavored to drink with food. The peanut butter and coffee both came through in spades; I’m not positive I actually tasted the dark chocolate, but it may have just been hidden in the bitterness of the coffee flavors. All in all, I’m glad I tried it but I may steer clear of it in the future in favor of other options.
