The Crossings Restaurant and Brewpub, Putnam CT

The Crossings

I played for church in Manchester CT this morning, then, because I’m on my own for the day, I headed east on Rt 44 to Putnam CT and The Crossings Restaurant and Brewpub. This pub, like others I’ve visited, is located in an old railway station.

They only have 4 of their own beers on draft along with 6 guest taps, but as one of the guests is a hard cider and another is PBR, I’ll be impolite and say they really only have 8 taps total 🙂

The beers are in this order in the flight, right to left:

I liked them all, but the Summer Ale was the clear favorite for my palate this morning and that’s what I chose for another pint.

Along with the beer, I went with their Corned Beef Reuben and Onion Rings, a meal that can be either exquisite or horrible. Theirs was perfectly fine, definitely in the top 50% of all the Reubens I’ve ever had. I probably wouldn’t order it again, but I don’t regret getting it this time!

Would I go back again? Probably, but I’m not in a hurry to do so. It’s a bit too out of the way for me, but it certainly was a decent drive without TOO many rude and aggressive Connecticut drivers. Honestly, speed limits are clearly posted and I’m even going 5mph over … so BACK OFF!
