Blind Tiger Brewing, Topeka KS

Topeka KS – Blind Tiger Brewing

Blind Tiger is in a depressing location, but indoors is visually interesting and they have a wide variety of their own brews in addition to a large menu of food choices. There’s even a tongue-in-cheek “history of brewing” mural over the bar starting with the ancient Egyptians on the left and progressing to the Blind Tiger bar on the right.

I started out with a flight, but before I show you that photo, here is the extensive beer list so that you can see the descriptions for yourself:

From left to right, the flight contains the Holy Grail Pale Ale, Tiger Paw Porter, Smoked Helles, and Capital City Kölsch.

Dinner was a BBQ club sandwich with thick slabs of real turkey and ham (not cheap deli meats), far more food than I can possibly eat in one sitting, and rather than fries, I opted for the side salad, also of generous proportions and with fresh ingredients.

Following the flight, I tossed a few mental coins and decided on their Maibock, which has won several awards:

If only I hadn’t still had another hour and a half to drive, I’d have gladly worked my way through one or two more flights! I was very happy with all five beers I tried, and that’s saying a lot. It’s not very often that everything pleases, but this place passed the test. The only possible complaint I could make is that the Smoked Helles was much less smoky than I’m used to having, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a beer I wouldn’t order again, not by any means.

If only a visit here didn’t also require being in Kansas … but I’m going to have to say it certainly made the drive worth it 🙂
