Elk Horn Brewing, Eugene OR
This wasn’t my first choice, but it was open and I actually enjoyed it, so that’s all good!

It was an interesting place with friendly people. I was a little about it being essentially a “university bar” given the proximity to the U of Oregon, but certainly didn’t get that vibe as early as I was there. I started with a flight of 5 beers and their Trio of Sliders (chicken, burger, BBQ pork):

From left to right, the beers were:
DBR – A Kölsch, but surprisingly bland, definitely far from the best I’ve had and not one I’d order again.
Baywatch Wheat – I’m not often a fan of wheat beers, but this was a great flavor (especially compared to the DBR) and was a strong contender for a follow-up pint.
Huckleberry Finnley – an IPA flavored with Huckleberry, and I’m sorry, but huckleberry and beer are two flavors I’ve decided do NOT belong together.
Dad Bod – a hazy IPA that was pretty good, but a bit too hoppy for my taste.
Velvet Antler – a red ale that was one of the best I’ve had. Another contender …
In the end, I opted for Something Completely Different and went with the Sasquatch’s Shadow, a stout that was good but would be even better in the dead of winter:

Overall, I liked the place and really liked the food. The beer was pretty good, but wait ‘til you read about tomorrow’s place!!
