Crooked Can Brewing, Hilliard OH

Summer 2022 Trip, Day 3, part 2

I almost wish I hadn’t had the rest of the day’s beverages (and food) already decided, but so be it. After the visit to Grove City Brewing, I headed north to Crooked Can Brewing in Hilliard OH, a location I’ve visited several times on previous trips. I picked up two crowlers there for later:

Mr. Tractor is a 5.3% Kölsch that, while not the best I’ve ever had, is a great beer for hot weather and always enjoyable. 3rd Rail is a hazy NEIPA at 5.7% and another that I’ve enjoyed in the past. These both went into the refrigerator at my hotel room until I was hungry enough to head to the Old Bag of Nails Pub in Hilliard for a take out order of their Famous Fish & Chips:

I do love a good Fish & Chips, but I have to say that theirs spoils all others for me! Not only is it a HUGE amount of fish, but it is done absolutely to perfection with the most perfectly crispy coating.

While I waited for the food, I sat at their bar and sipped:

It doesn’t look like much, and trust me, it wasn’t …

I’m sure the brewery, which I’ve visited in the past, meant well, but this one tastes much, much thinner than its 5% ABV would imply. The name makes up for much of the lack of taste, though – Peach, Love, and Rock & Roll Shandy by Millersburg (OH) Brewing.

Tomorrow, I’ll be at a brewpub I visited once a few years ago with a perfectly clever name. After all, if you’re located in Effingham IL, what else would you call yourself but Effing Brew?!?

Until then!
