Summer Trip 2022, Day 19, part 1
Well, this was an interesting stop. Big Rip is a true hole-in-the wall in the middle of an industrial park area in North KC. If I hadn’t known it was here, I never would have seen it at all.

As you can see, there’s not much to it! There’s a BBQ place next door that you can order from via a kiosk, but … it’s closed on Sundays. So I bought a small bag of pretzels (see in the photo) and just had a flight plus one more taster of their beers.

I’m pleased to say that the beers were mostly quite good! From left to right, these were:
Hefe the Killer – 6.5% – This is a big Hefeweizen with a lot of flavor. I’m not sure I’d want an entire pint of it, but the taster size was pretty enjoyable.
Anti-Grabber Irish Red Ale – 6.1% – I found this rather mild and well-balanced, and rather liked it. There wasn’t a lot of character to it, but it was a perfectly decent red ale.
Drake Equation Exp.06300 – 4.5% – The name refers to an experimental yeast strain that was used in this batch that brings in a few unexpected flavors. Although coconut wasn’t mentioned in the description, that’s what came through to me and I’m not really a fan of that in beer (chocolate yes, beer no).
Don’t Block the Intersection! – 4.7% – Another pale ale, this was one that I rather liked. Had there been food available, I’d have almost certainly gone with a pint or two of this.
Scotchlander Wee Heavy – 8% – Is it a Scotch Ale or a Wee Heavy? Who knows? It was tasty, but even though the alcohol wasn’t obnoxiously present, it definitely was there.
I followed these with the same 5 ounce size of Aisle 12 West Coast IPA – 7.7% – this is their Imperial West Coast Double IPA, but I didn’t find it as interesting as most other DIPAs I’ve had.
Part 2 will be where I got food and more beer 🙂
