Today’s main meal was a series of takeouts and all were excellent. They were also from places I’ve visited before so these were all known quantities.
First, some beer to enjoy later – I stopped in at 1487 Brewery for two crowlers, one of their Helles and one of their Oktoberfest. 1487 is so named because their primary inspiration in brewing is the 1487 Rheinheitsgebot in Bavaria that laid out restrictions on the ingredients to be included in beer. Many German breweries still adhere to this, and so does 1487 for all of their core beers.
The Helles and the Oktoberfest are perfectly balanced, German beers “made in America.” As their logo says:

Their logo also includes symbols for the ingredients allowed under the Rheinheitsgebot, water, barley, hops, and yeast (although yeast was not specifically mentioned as it was considered a part of the brewing process and not an ingredient per se).
Next up was food to consume while drinking the beer and that was the famous Fish & Chips from the Old Bag of Nails Pub in Hilliard. It’s no accident that I return there on each visit! That takeout container in the photo is 8"x9" on the inside, so that is a LOT of fish. While waiting for it, I sat at the bar and had a pint of the Tropicoastal IPA from Great Lakes Brewing in Cleveland. It was certainly tropical but was also surprisingly mild.

And what visit to Columbus doesn’t include some Graeter’s Ice Cream at some point? There’s a Graeter’s just over a ¼ mile from my hotel and it was just such a nice afternoon for a walk …

Tomorrow, I’m going to check out a new place in town, a craft brewery that makes “New Haven style apizza” – we’ll see how true to the real deal it is!
