Hofbrauhaus, Columbus OH
Hofbräuhaus, Columbus OH
3 November 2022
I arrived in Columbus this afternoon and my usual go-to upon arrival would be Schmidt’s in the German Village, but I decided to save them for either Sunday or Monday and to have the wursts and beer at the Hofbräuhaus today. Sadly, they don’t have their Festbier on draft anymore even though it was still listed on their website …
It was a good day for driving and I’d left my hotel in Syracuse right at 7am (in the dark) so evening with a couple of short stops, I was ordering my first pint of their Original Lager at 2:30pm.

That one was a half-liter. I’d decided to do a full liter of the Dunkel with my Wurstplatte but the bartender suggested I should stay with half-liters instead because they were cheaper during the day. So, sure!

And because I was too early to get into my hotel room, another Dunkel and the Schwartzwalder Kirchetorte seemed to be a good way to burn some extra time 😉

As good as everything was, I’m definitely looking forward to visiting Schmidt’s in a couple of days. They almost always have the Paulaner Oktoberfest on draft as well as a really great house Dunkel that’s locally brewed, and their food is solid home-cooking style.
Meanwhile, I took a crowler of Lager to my hotel and thoroughly enjoyed that in the evening as I read a book.
