The Fox Brewery and Pub, Carson City NV

The Fox was not what I was expecting, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good spot – the beers were definitely enjoyable and the food, although the serving sizes were double what I would prefer, was tasty.

They were out of the #2 and #4 beers, but I wouldn’t have gone for those anyway. Instead, here was my flight (left to right):

All four were great! If I were forced to rank them by my preference, I’d go with (l-to-r) 4, 2, 3, 1 … but that ordering could easily change based on how I feel at any given moment. So rather than trying to describe them, I’ll just list them:

Hazy Street IPA

Kings Fall Pilsner

Mas Equis Mexican Lager

Karma Sutro Pale Ale (I took a crowler of this one for the evening)

As I mentioned, the food portions were massive, but really well made and very tasty:

I mean, who can actually put that burger stack into their mouth?!?

When I walked in, I heard the bartender trying to sell a dessert to another customer and I was already sold at “bourbon caramel sauce” … so I got the Bread Pudding and it was every bit as enormous as the burger but really enjoyable:

The beer that’s with it is their Chocolate Cherry Stout, perhaps not the best choice for this dessert, but excellent in its own right with solid flavors of chocolate and cherry.

I’m not sure I’d visit The Fox again, but it was certainly an enjoyable stop in a very interesting, historic building, and I’m definitely looking forward to more of the Karma Sutro this evening.
