Twin Span Brewing, Bettendorf IA

Twin Span is right across the street from my hotel! I can even just see it from my room window:

Because I’d already eaten at Front Street, I was only here for a flight but I wish I could have tried more of their beers! They have an extensive list and the food menu looked interesting as well:

Here’s my flight, described left to right. I asked the bartender to give me their best four and she obliged, doing a fantastic job of selecting a variety of styles:

80 East – Hazy IPA, 6.5% – I found this fruity and refreshing, a great example of this style.
Lager Dam – Pre-Prohibition Lager, 4.2% – Similar to a Kentucky Common Ale, this is brewed with part corn in the mash which gives it a unique and subtle flavor. It was clean and enjoyable.
Uncle Juicy – Fruited Sour, 6.4% – While I’m not 100% sure of the fruit, I think it was peach and it was excellent. This is a very mild sour and the kind of beer you can drink far too much of on a hot summer’s day.
Twin Span Bridgie – Scotch Ale, 8.7% – I was astonished by the alcohol content on this Scotch Ale because you absolutely do NOT taste it! Some Scotch Ales are overbearing in various ways; this is one that is exceptionally drinkable (and therefore, dangerous).
I may have to spend a few days in the Quad Cities on a future trip — this area’s brewers clearly know how to brew a great beer!
