Salt Springs Brewery, Saline MI

23 September 2025

This is my second visit to Salt Springs; the first was on my trip last Fall and it was so enjoyable I had to come back. You can read about that visit which also has more about their history in this post. But here are some photos of the interior from today’s visit:

I started with a flight which, contrary to my normal practice, I’ll describe from right-to-left:

Ester’s Cranberry Saison – Saison, 6% – This is their regular Saison (which I had last year) with cranberries added, but not enough cranberries in my opinion. This was a nice beer but the cranberry flavor was very much in the background and difficult to pick out.

Blood Orange Hefeweizen – Hefeweizen, 4.9% – I really liked this and it may be the best blood orange wheat beer I’ve had.

Oktoberfest – Märzen, 6.4% – Again, this was a really nice beer even though it’s a little drier on the finish than I prefer. Still, it was good enough that I took a crowler to-go to enjoy at the hotel.

Little Red Hen – English Pale Ale, 5.5% – I loved this with its floral/bread/malt flavors. I think it works best with food, though, as it has a hoppy bitterness on the back end so it wasn’t a candidate for the crowler.

This is the Smoked Turkey Sandwich with a Caesar Salad on the side, and just look at the amount of turkey breast they have stuffed in there! Nothing was overdone flavor-wise with this; it was just solid and tasty food all around.

For dessert, I decided to try their Cream Puff (with Hot Fudge sauce and locally-made ice cream) with a Cafe Martini (strong coffee taste). I’d had the martini last year and it was just as good this year.

I’m full now and quite satisfied — Salt Springs came through once again and it stays on my list of places I’d like to visit again. Tomorrow, I’ll be revisiting another brewpub that I discovered on a recent trip, Uniontown Brewing in Ashland OH.
