Crafted Hope Brewing, East Greenwich RI
29 November 2025
Crafted Hope just celebrated their one-year anniversary yesterday (on my birthday, no less!) and I was very impressed with everything I tasted here. They had a wide variety of styles both traditional and unusual, and all the traditional beers I had were spot on. There’s no food — they have food trucks sometimes — but the bartender told me there are some good food places within the vicinity for takeout (I picked up a deli sandwich on my way at the start of my drive).
Their location is in a modern industrial/small business park and the brewery is not as easy to find as it should be. This is what the place looks like from the outside:

Inside, however, is quite spacious and pleasant with lots of seating:
Their pricing model for 4oz pours is interesting — they are $3 each for any of their beers, or $10 for a flight of four. In the end, I had two flights plus an extra 4oz glass. Here is my first flight:

Hoffnung – Märzen, 4.5% – Such a gorgeous color! This had mild bread notes and mild hops blended together perfectly. As with many of the other beers, it was a good example of their brewer’s ability to handle any style.
Dunk and Dumber – Munich style Dunkel, 5.1% – There was a strong roasted/toasted flavor in this solid beer.
River Rhine – Kölsch, 5.7% – I prefer a bit more floral taste in my Kölsch, but this easily was in the top 3 of all I’ve had in this style.
48 Long – Black IPA, 7.0% – The “48 Long” refers to the 48-mile length of Rhode Island. I found this beer very interesting — it had a mild roasted flavor but not a lot of bitterness – it was so well-rounded that I would have loved to have more of it (but there were so many more to taste!).

Pineapple Espresso – Pineapple/Coffee Blonde Ale, 4.6% – I wasn’t sure what I getting myself into with this beer, but it was really unique and tasty! It started with a touch pineapple and finished with a beautiful coffee flavor, and I’m sure the taste of the blonde ale was marrying these two together. I really wished they had this in cans because I would have loved to take some home.
37 Wide – NEIPA, 6.3% – Another reference to the state of Rhode Island, “37 Wide” is the number of miles the state is wide. Unlike many NEIPAs, this wasn’t particularly citrusy and the bitterness struck me as more of a regular IPA. It was OK, but it was my least favorite of the nine beers I tasted.
Hope-FULL – Double NEIPA, 8.3% – Now this was good! It was smooth with only mild overtones of alcohol, just very tasty and easy to drink (perhaps too easy …).
Sax on the Beach – Sour, 4.3% – My first impression was “Wow, that is SOUR!” followed immediately by “But it is SO GOOD!!” It was intensely fruity but the sourness offset the sweetness of the fruit just perfectly. Again, if only this had been available in cans …
Frozen Sticky Paper – Chocolate/Vanilla Stout, 7.3% – A funny name, but a great beer — everything promised comes through clearly in this beer. It’s smooth with great flavor and a mild stout bitterness on the back side. Wow.
In addition to their many beers (several more than I was able to try), they have 10 non-alcoholic beers from other breweries plus seltzer — hard or non-alcoholic — to which you can add one or more of 15 different flavors. That’s some crazy kind of choice and I’ve never seen anyone else do that!
Crafted Hope was definitely a winner and I wish them many more great years in business! I’ll definitely try to get back there again.
