Butte Brewing Company, Butte MT
2 August 2026

Butte Brewing Company’s building is fairly new — the brewery reopened in its current form 11 years ago — and is high on the edge of town. This is the view from the “front porch” —

The inside is really big and I only captured a tiny bit of it along with a questionable bit of wall “art” and a nice sign …
The bartender told me they have a lot of events with large groups and there were actually two groups coming in later today, one taking over the very large second floor (above my photo) and the other in a large room off the bar (not visible in my shot).
I ordered two flights but unfortunately didn’t get a photo of the beer list behind the bar, incorrectly assuming that I could later match these up to the tap list online. Wrong! The online list is incomplete … but that’s OK because out of all these beers, the only one I truly liked was the Green Monster, a Double IPA. The other seven were good, but all tasted like the beers from OEC in Connecticut that are fermented in open vats with their own special yeast. In other words, they’re really well made but somewhat of an acquired taste if you’re not used to drinking them regularly. To my mouth, they all feel like different variations on a mildly sour beer.
The Butte Pizza Company is also in this building and I ordered a Sausage and Mushroom pizza. These only come in one size, “too big for me,” and I felt good that I was able to finish even half of it. It was tasty, but not outstanding; the crust and sauce were the best part but there was far too much cheese.

In the end, I don’t need to put this on my list of “must return to” places and that’s OK. I was glad to have a chance to visit here, but won’t be sad if I don’t get back in the future.
